DESCRIPTION
PPN4000™ is a dry, natural, organic polymer. PPN4000’s™ versatile, fast-yielding properties have proven useful in numerous industrial applications.
MIXING AND FEEDING
PPN4000™ is normally wetted with fresh water using a venturi-type eductor and then diluted to 0.1% to 1.0% by weight with water and allowed to hydrate for 0.5-2
hours before using. PPN4000™ hydrates more rapidly under a high shear mix condition. The viscosity of PPN4000™ solutions increase with concentration in an exponential manner. Planning of mixing and feed systems should take into account the viscosity characteristics.
PRESERVED SOLUTION
PPN4000™ is a natural, organic polymer that must be protected against spoilage. Periodic cleaning of mixing and storage tanks will reduce potential for spoilage. Under conditions where spoilage is an issue, Rantec will recommend biocides that may be added to the
solution to prevent spoilage.
BENCH TESTING
Good planning starts with bench scale testing. Bench tests of PPN4000™ can be used
to determine the optimum ranges of feed rates, dilution rates, addition locations and
sequences. When PPN4000™ is used in conjunction with other polymers, the order of
addition should be tested. In some systems the best results are achieved by separate,
sequential feeds.
SAFETY
PPN4000™ is in a family of natural, organic polymers often used as a food ingredient. PPN4000™ is non-polluting and non-toxic. It is biodegradable, so disposal problems are
reduced.
