Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Product Basics

TACK-30™ is a plantago-based mulch tackifier manufactured from psyllium (plantago) husk powder. It contains a naturally occurring mucilloid that provides excellent adhesive properties when used in hydraulic applications such as fiber mulch slurries or straw overspray for erosion control.

TACK-30™ is quality-controlled to meet a minimum swell volume of 30 ml/gram, ensuring consistent performance and adhesive strength. Each manufactured lot is tested by Rantec Corporation, making it one of the most reliable plantago-based tackifiers for erosion control and revegetation projects.

Yes. TACK-30™ meets the Arizona DOT Specifications for Tacking Agent 805-2.06, making it suitable for state-regulated roadway, construction, and erosion control projects that require approved plantago tackifiers.

  • Hydromulching and hydroseeding applications

  • Straw overspray to bond straw fiber

  • Fiber mulch bonding for erosion control

  • Revegetation projects requiring plant-based tackifiers
Its natural mucilloid content improves soil adhesion and helps prevent erosion during vegetation establishment.

Yes. TACK-30™ is a 100% natural plantago-based tackifier derived from psyllium husk powder. It is biodegradable, environmentally friendly, and safe for soil, and vegetation when used as directed.

Applications & Mixing

Usage varies by application type:

Application Type Mulch (lb/ac) TACK-30™ (lb/ac) Water (gal/ac)
Straw Overspray 200 100 700–1500
Fiber Mulch 2000 75 3000–4000

These rates help achieve proper bonding and soil stabilization across a range of site conditions.

  1. Fill the tank until the lower agitator blades are covered with water.

  2. Add the required amount of TACK-30™ while operating the agitator at high speed to ensure full hydration and prevent clumping.

  3. Continue adding water while incorporating mulch, fertilizer, seed, and other hydraulic materials.
Following these steps ensures a consistent slurry and optimal adhesive performance.
