Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Product Basics

SAP-400™ is a crosslinked synthetic super absorbent polymer designed to improve water storage and retention in soils, especially in dry, low-moisture environments. It is based on a cross-linked anionic acrylamide polymer engineered for high water absorption and long-term performance.

SAP-400™ absorbs and stores large amounts of water—up to 500 times its weight in deionized water—forming a gel-like structure. This stored moisture is slowly released back into the surrounding soil, improving plant survival, reducing drought stress, and enhancing soil structure.

  • Physical Form: White granules

  • Bulk Density: 53 lb/cf

  • Particle Size: 1–1.5 mm

  • Ionic Character: Medium anionic

  • Active Content: 100%

  • Absorption:

    • 500× in deionized water

    • 40× in 3% NaCl

  • pH of absorbed water: 6.0–7.0

  • Absorption rate: 50% absorption within 30 minutes

By storing significant quantities of water and releasing it slowly, SAP-400™ helps maintain soil moisture between irrigation or rainfall events, reducing plant stress and improving survival rates in arid environments.

SAP-400™ absorbs approximately 50% of its total water capacity within 30 minutes, with full absorption occurring shortly after. This fast absorption rate makes it ideal for applications that require rapid water retention.

Yes, but with reduced performance. In 3% NaCl (saltwater) solutions, SAP-400™ absorbs approximately 40 times its weight, compared to 500× in deionized water.

SAP-400™ must be stored in a cool, dry place in its original multi-wall paper bags (50–55 lb).
Important: Avoid contact with water during storage, as premature absorption will render the product unusable.

Yes. SAP-400™ is designed for soil contact and water storage applications. Its medium anionic character and pH range of 6.0–7.0 make it safe for most soil and plant environments.
