Southwest Monsoon
The Southwest Monsoon appears to have stalled, showing little to no northward progress over the past seven days (see attached map). The IMD reports that early precipitation in Northwest India—the key guar-growing region—is currently 89% above average. The forecast for the next seven days indicates mostly dry conditions in Haryana and Western Rajasthan, with isolated rains expected in Eastern Rajasthan and Gujarat.
India Guar Gum Market
The guar market remains weak and largely unchanged from last week. Splits and powder manufacturers continue to buy steadily. Speculative activity is limited and mostly opportunistic.
Pakistan Guar Gum Market
Similarly, the market in Pakistan has shown little movement since our last update.
Tariffs
Tariffs continue to feature prominently in the news. Last week, a three-judge panel ruled that the President exceeded his authority in imposing global and retaliatory tariffs. Nevertheless, the federal appeals court has decided that the tariffs will remain in effect at least through June 9.
