PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

EM-Tack™ is a raw psyllium husk powder (PHP) derived from the epidermis and adjacent layers removed from the dried ripe seed of Plantago Ovata. EM-Tack™ is an industrial-grade by-product of the manufacture of laxative grade psyllium husk. PHP contains a number of natural polymers that provide an adhesive or mucilage characteristic. Those components include the polysaccharides xylose, arbinose and galacturonic acid. Other polysaccharides reported include rhamose and galactose. EM-Tack™ is an industrial-grade product used primarily as a tackifier in hydromulching applications.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Product Basics

EM-TACK is an industrial-grade psyllium husk powder (PHP) derived from the epidermis and surrounding layers of the dried ripe seeds of Plantago ovata. It is a natural tackifier used primarily in hydromulching and erosion control applications. EM-TACK contains polysaccharides that create strong adhesive and mucilage properties ideal for bonding mulch and straw.

EM-TACK contains several natural polysaccharides, including xylose, arbinose, galacturonic acid, rhamnose, and galactose.

EM-TACK has a minimum purity of 70% psyllium husk powder.

Applications & Mixing

Usage varies depending on application type:

Application Type Mulch (lb/ac) EM-TACK (lb/ac) Water (gal/ac)
Straw Overspray 200 150 700–1500
Fiber Mulch 2000 100 3000–4000

These rates help ensure proper adhesion and effective erosion control.

  1. Fill the tank until the lower agitator blades are just covered with water.

  2. Add the required amount of EM-TACK slowly while running the agitator at high speed to prevent clumping.

  3. Continue adding water and mix in mulch, seed, fertilizer, or other hydraulic materials.
Following these steps ensures proper polymer hydration and consistent tackifier performance.
