Rantec Guar Report

The guar gum market remains relatively unchanged since our last report.

As previously reported, the southwest monsoon progressed northward and covered the entire country on July 9, right on schedule. Cumulative rainfall across Northwest India, the primary guar-growing region, compared to the long-term average remains mixed. State wise, Gujarat reports 2% excess rainfall, Rajasthan 12% deficient, and Haryana 13% deficient.

Planting has commenced across all locations in the guar-growing regions of India and Pakistan. We will have a better indication of total guar acreage in the coming weeks.

Section 122 taris have expired, and Section 301 taris have been instituted. Both India and Pakistan are currently subject to a 10% tari. Multiple states and small businesses have filed lawsuits in the Court of International Trade challenging the
legality of these tariffs.

As reported in July, ocean freight rates have increased rapidly and significantly. Unfortunately, rates continue to rise (see attached chart).

We will continue to monitor market developments closely as conditions evolve.

Please let us know if you have any questions or would like to discuss current market conditions in more detail.
